My Baby - Week by Week Pregnancy

Week 43 - Waiting for the Big Entrance

Your baby is fully developed and just waiting to make his or her big entrance into the world. He or she isn't gaining much additional weight and may actually begin to lose weight if your placenta has begun to deteriorate.

Post term babies are generally born with little vernix covering their bodies, long fingernails, and less fat. Depending on how you and your baby are doing, your health care provider may want to induce you this week. Post-term babies run the risk of growing too large for a vaginal delivery and thereby requiring a c-section or the use of forceps and vacuum.
