Onesies

Dressing your new baby will be so much fun. Baby clothes are so adorable and tiny that a new mother can have a really difficult time deciding what to put on her baby. One thing is for sure, you had better let your baby wear those teeny, tiny outfits immediately. It isn't unusual to save putting an outfit on your baby for a special occasion and then when the time arrives to wear it, you find that your baby has outgrown it! Generally, you will want soft, comfortable clothing with no irritating tags or seams.

The best favor you can do for yourself and your baby is to make sure outfits are simple and open easily for diaper changes. Don't forget babies are messy so you will probably go through several outfits in a day.

One piece outfits or onesies dramatically simplify dressing your baby. These are typically one piece bodysuits, either long or short depending on the season. Once again, look for clothes made of soft fabric with wide a neck opening and easy fitting ankle and leg cuffs. Many onesies will have snaps on the shoulder or neck opening to make dressing easier. Look for finished seams so there will not be any rough or scratchy parts to irritate baby's delicate skin. And avoid zippers, which can catch and pinch tender skin.

Your baby will outgrow newborn sizes quickly, so buy a size larger at least three months ahead. A good rule of thumb is to have four to seven onesies in your baby's wardrobe.
