Special Ways To Say Thank You

The saying, "It takes a village to raise a child" is especially true for pregnancy. Undoubtedly, there will be many people who will help and support you during and after your pregnancy. Below are special ways to thank them for their individual efforts and support:

Husband/Partner

  • Thank you/encouragement notes or cards for each month of pregnancy

  • Reservations at a favorite restaurant (or the place where you had your first date)

  • Daddy/Partner baby book for their special mementos/photos

  • Tickets to a special event (theatre, sports, concert, museum exhibit, etc.)

  • Small jewelry item with your new baby's birthstone

  • Flowers, candy or balloons delivered to your home or the hospital from you and the new baby

New Grandparents

  • Grandparents photo album for their special mementos/photos

  • Engraved picture frames with your baby's name and date of birth (place baby's hospital photo or a picture of the grandparent(s) holding the new baby, in the frame)

  • Silkscreen of new baby on T-shirts, baseball caps, tote bags, coffee mugs, etc., with captions such as, "I'm A Proud Grandma (Grandpa)"

  • Videotape of your baby's first days at home

  • Prepaid phone cards so out-of-state grandparents can keep in touch

Other Family Members (Brother or Sister-In-Law / Brothers, Sisters, Your Grandparents)

  • Small picture frames with your new baby's photo

  • Movie or local theatre production tickets

  • Movie rental coupon

Doctor/Hospital Staff/Labor and Delivery Nurses/Nurse Midwife

  • Candies or cookies delivered to the staff with small "Thank You" notes (most confectioners such as Mrs. Fields, See's, or Mrs. Beasley's deliver)

  • Hospital photo of your baby with a small "Thank You" note

Friends/Helpers/Volunteers

  • Host a "Thank You" cocktail party one to two months after the baby arrives (have it catered or call your local grocer to order prepared party platters)

  • Thank you cards with places to put baby pictures in, or computer-generated photo cards with a "Thank You" note inside
